Communications & Technology Support Associate
DC Vote is seeking a Communications & Technology Support Associate to assist with DC Vote's communications strategy and to implement, maintain and update our critical technology systems. Our organization is working to secure voting representation in Congress for DC residents. We are closer now to achieving our goal than at any time in the last 30 years. We are looking for a hard-working person with excellent written and verbal communications skills, proven technology capabilities, including work with databases, networks, HTML and ColdFusion programming and general computer and software support.

The Communications & Technology Support Associate candidate will be responsible for:

Develop familiarity with DC Vote's Web site, intranet and database systems to provide support for revisions, additions, deletions and other technology needs

Develop handbook describing DC Vote's Web site, intranet and database
- Make updates to home page of Web site
- Maintain and update media list in database
-
Assist staff with testing e-mails through the intranet and monitoring category choices and frequency of e-mails

Help reorganize, update and maintain the DC Vote online library

Provide basic technology training to new employees (intranet, Web site, sending an e-mail, etc.)

Update and install software and hardware as needed

Manage server back-up systems
- Add and update events pages on Web site for communications team and in cooperation with outreach team
- Draft and edit e-mails and other written materials for use by the communications, outreach and development teams and for the organization as needed

Draft newsletter and e-bulletin content and coordinate lay-out and coding

Help contact, build, and maintain relations with media outlets and reporters

Send e-mail reminders regarding DC Vote and DC voting rights-related activities

Assist Communications Manager with administrative activities and projects
Additional Qualifications:
-
Interest in and commitment to the work of helping to spread democracy to the residents of the District of Columbia

Candidate must be able to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills

HTML experience required, experience in Web development and custom databases a plus

Familiarity with ColdFusion preferred

Familiarity with voice and data networking

MS Access and Excel experience preferred

Knowledge of Windows XP
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail

Must work well both independently and as part of a tight-knit team
